This policy describes exactly what the app does with data. It is written to
match the Google Play Data Safety declaration for this app; if you find a
discrepancy, the stricter reading applies and we will correct the document.
GAUNTLET works fully without an account, and works offline. Nothing leaves
your device unless you choose to submit a score to the global leaderboard.
The following never leaves your phone. It lives in the app's local storage
and is erased when you uninstall the app:
The global leaderboard is optional. If you skip the name prompt, nothing
in this section ever happens and the game plays identically.
If you do submit a score, the following is sent to our leaderboard database
(hosted on Supabase) over an encrypted HTTPS connection:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| The display name you typed (max 16 characters) | To show your entry on the board |
| Your score, number of rounds, and game mode | To rank the entry |
| The date key of the run | To separate daily boards |
| A random identifier generated on your device | To recognise repeat entries from the same install |
About the random identifier: it is a randomly generated UUID created by
the app. It is not your advertising ID, not your device serial, and not
linked to your Google account, phone number, or email. It cannot be used to
identify you personally.
Choose your display name accordingly. It is shown publicly to other
players. Do not enter your real name if you would rather stay anonymous —
a nickname works exactly as well.
The app may show interstitial and rewarded video ads supplied by Google
AdMob. Ads are limited by frequency caps and never interrupt a round in
progress.
Google AdMob may collect and process data under its own privacy policy,
including a device advertising identifier, in order to serve and measure
ads. We do not receive that data. See:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Purchasing "Remove ads" disables all advertising permanently for that
install, and the ad SDK is no longer initialised.
"Remove ads" is a one-off purchase handled entirely by Google Play. We never
see or store your payment details. Google's privacy policy governs the
transaction: https://policies.google.com/privacy
GAUNTLET is suitable for all ages and contains no content directed at
children specifically. We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children. Because the only user-supplied field is a freely chosen display
name, we ask that younger players use a nickname rather than their real
name.
Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of data
associated with you.
Because leaderboard entries are tied only to a random device identifier and
a display name you chose, we normally need you to tell us the display name
and approximate date of the run so we can locate the entry.
To request deletion, email apocys@gmail.com with the subject "GAUNTLET
data deletion". We will action it within 30 days.
You can also erase everything held about you immediately by uninstalling the
app (this clears all on-device data) — though this does not remove a
previously submitted leaderboard entry, which requires the email request
above.
Leaderboard entries are retained while the board is live. Daily boards are
historical records of a given day's play. On-device data is retained until
you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date at the top will
change. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of
the revised policy.
